Ingrown toenails can be incredibly painful and annoying, making even simple tasks like walking or wearing certain shoes impossible. Without treatment, ingrown toenails can become further infected and cause abscesses.
This isn’t a rare condition: ingrown toenails are common and can be caused by several factors, including excessive sweating, improper footwear, a bacterial infection, or cutting your nails too short. Here’s how to treat ingrown toenails.
Warm water. Soaking your feet in a basin of warm water for 15-20 minutes three times a day helps relieve pain and swelling. After thoroughly soaking and drying your feet, use a cotton ball or dental floss to gently push the ingrown toenail away from your skin.
