I found this on my bed, mixed with my cat’s hair: I was horrified when I realized what it was and went to the hospital immediately.

There, my worst fears were confirmed: one of them did indeed have dipylidiosis, caused by Dipylidium caninum, a type of flatworm.

These parasites look like small white worms, and their eggs look like grains of rice or small dry balls.

While my companions were undergoing treatment, I also underwent tests. Even though the risk was low, I couldn’t take any risks.

Fortunately, the results were negative for me, but the doctors explained to me that you can become infected by accidentally swallowing eggs – for example, by kissing your pet on the nose or not washing your hands after touching it.
