Beneath the surface, our skin harbors a veritable ecosystem: millions of beneficial microorganisms that contribute to our natural defenses. By washing too frequently or using antibacterial products, you also destroy these good bacteria. And when they disappear, the skin becomes more sensitive and reacts more easily to irritation.
The good news? Simply spacing out your showers a little and adopting gentle skincare products will allow this balance to be restored naturally.
Body temperature put to the test.
Very hot showers are a real pleasure… until you get dizzy! Particularly in older people, water that is too hot or too cold can disrupt the regulation of body temperature and cause dizziness or fatigue.
The best approach: keep the water pleasantly warm and avoid baths that are too long. You’ll stay relaxed without exhausting your body.
Dull hair and a dry scalp:
Just like skin, the scalp needs its natural oils to stay balanced. Too much shampooing weakens this area and leaves hair dull. If your ends are becoming dry or your hair is breaking easily, it’s time to slow down.
The ideal? Two to three washes a week are more than enough to keep your hair healthy. In between washes, a simple rinse with clean water or a little dry shampoo is all it takes to refresh the roots.
Unexpected fatigue after a shower.
We often think that a good shower invigorates us… However, overdoing it can have the opposite effect. Each time we go under the water, blood circulation and temperature regulation are stimulated. Taken too often, these hot or cold baths can tire us out instead of revitalizing us.
Try to shower when your body is rested: after breakfast or in the evening, when you’re relaxed. And leave at least an hour between a meal and a shower to avoid feeling tired.
