After a few days of treatment, David’s condition stabilized. The red blisters began to fade, leaving slight scars. When he was finally able to speak, he took my hand and whispered:
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner. There’s a man on the construction site – the foreman. He pressured me to sign false invoices for materials that were never delivered. I refused. He threatened me, but I didn’t think he would do such a thing.”
My heart broke. My sweet and honest husband almost died because he refused to be corrupted.
The police later confirmed everything. The man—a subcontractor named Rick Dawson—had spread an irritating chemical on David’s shirt while he was changing in the construction trailer. He wanted to teach him a lesson for not playing by the rules.
Rick was arrested and the company launched an internal investigation.
