Chinese Beef and Onion Stir Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450g) beef (such as flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 large onion , sliced into thin strips
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional, for added depth of flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Sliced green onions for garnish
